St
Paul's School Fencing Salle, Lonsdale Road, Barnes, London SW13 9JT
Ravenscourt
Theatre School, 8-30, Galena Road, London, W6 OLT
The central club trains in the Fencing Salle at St Paul's School in Barnes,
London. This is a purpose built fencing hall, with 4 built-in metallic
pistes and sprung flooring. It is situated in the lovely grounds of the
school in the pleasant surroundings of Barnes.
The new beginners and improvers
venue is at Ravenscourt Theatre School on Kings Street, Hammersmith, London.
Directions to St Pauls:
By Tube
Hammersmithi is on the Picadilly, District and Hammersmith and City lines and is in Zone 2. There are two exits from the District and Picadilly line tube station in the Broadway Centre, both of which
are within 15 minutes walking distance of London Thames Fencing Club. The Hammersmith and City Line station is just over the road from the Broadway Centre.
The following directions apply to both.
On foot: come out of the station and walk towards St. Paul's Church, the large tower should be visible on exiting either station. Walk past the church and under the flyover, you should now be able to see Hammersmith Bridge. Walk south across the Bridge and you will come to a set of traffic
lights at a mini-crossroads about 200 yards on the far side of the River
Thames. At these traffic lights turn right into Lonsdale Road; St. Paul's
School is about 350 yards on your right.
By Bus
From Hammersmith bus station (in the Broadway next to the tube), take
the 419 bus. This travels down Lonsdale Road and passes the entrance to
St. Paul's School. This is a hail and ride section so press the button and the bus should stop outside the gates. There are several other buses that come over Hammersmith
Bridge southbound into Castlenau, Barnes, and stop near the Lonsdale Road
junction.
By Car
There is usually ample car parking space within the school grounds but
please park in the main car park on the right side of the entrance drive,
NOT in any other area unless specifically directed to do so by school
staff (e.g. when the school has an evening function and the car parks
overflow, in which case there will be attendants directing cars). It may
sometimes be necessary to park outside the school grounds in Lonsdale
Road. Under no circumstances may fencers park in the Colet Court car park.
Observance of this regulation is vital to the club's good standing with
St. Paul's School and members and visitors are earnestly requested to
comply.
At the School
Walk through the school gates and down the drive to where the road splits.
The Sports Hall complex is now immediately in front of you (behind the
school founder's statue) and the entrance is through the white glass doors in the centre. Walk down the corridor past the fives courts until you reach the stairs. Turn left here and the fencing salle is on the right.
